Noah Warren Goodman, born December 1st, 7#14oz, 5:01am.
Boy what a night. Sarah had gone with me to a PN Christmas party Friday night. She was having contractions but they weren't doing anything. She was going to have a home birth. She wanted to go home around 9:30. I dropped her off and went back to the party to get Josie and Taylor. We went home about 11:30. Sarah called at 2:20am and wanted me back down to her house, she said "It's time" so I gathered up the girls and off we went. We arrived at her house between 3:30 and 4am. She had her Dulas (Janet and her husband Greg) there helping her through the contractions so there wasn't a whole lot for us to do but wait. They were letting the midwife sleep a while longer before they called her over. Sarah wanted French toast so I got busy making that. She could eat a couple bites between contractions but she didn't eat much. About 4:45 I went in to see how she was doing and the Dula had me time the length of the contactions, she said to call out every fifteen seconds (15, 30, 45, 60) that is supposed to let Sarah know that she doesn't have long and the contaction will be over. Pretty soon the contractions started to hurt and she was moaning a little louder with each one then her water broke. I was trying to help change the pads under her when she said "something feels different, I have to get off the bed" she started to panic, and Jason and Greg helped her off the bed and towards the floor where Janet had sheets and pads set up for Sarah to lay over the ball on. They got her over to the ball and Sarah said "I have to poop!" everyone said "go ahead" and was laughing. Then she got down onto her knees and the next thing you hear is Sarah screaming " Somebody catch this baby, the head is out" we all turn around and there between her legs is this head staring up at us. The dula and Jason were right there and both of them together delivered the baby. He slipped right out into the loving arms of his father, and started crying. Janet got the mucus all cleared out of his mouth and nose. The dula called out for time of birth and I said 5:01, so that's his time. They got Sarah turned around and sitting down and gave her the baby. He was really blue for a while but pinked up shortly. The midwife got there just about then, checked the baby and Sarah and delivered the placenta. She weighed (7lbs. 14ozs)and cleaned up Noah and put a diaper on him while Sarah and I got in the shower and I cleaned her up. What a miracle. Sarah did great. I could never do such a thing, I hate pain, put me in the hospital and give me drugs, I don't want to feel a thing.
Coming soon!
